UK Jasmine field produces first gas

First gas has been produced from the Jasmine field (pictured) in the UK’s North Sea.

The field, claimed to be one of the largest discoveries in the UK in the last 10 years, was found in 2006 by its operator ConocoPhillips, a US explorer, which holds a 36.5% stake together with Italian firm Eni (33%) and BG Group (30.5%).

ConocoPhillips expects Jasmine to produce around 40,000 boed in 2014 while BG Group hopes to take home around 30,000 boed.

They say it has the capacity to produce around 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).

BG Group CEO Chris Finlayson said “The start-up of production from Jasmine marks the delivery of yet another key 2013 milestone for BG Group. Jasmine is the largest discovery to come on-stream in the North Sea since the giant Buzzard field began production in 2007.”
